Brussels Airlines’ key requirements for bringing a cat or small dog into the cabin

• Pet eligibility

  Only cats and small dogs are allowed. Must be at least 15 weeks old (6 months old for travel to the USA), clean, healthy, calm, and well-behaved. Pregnant pets require a veterinarian’s certificate of fitness to fly.

• Weight limit

  Maximum combined weight of pet and carrier is 8 kg (18 lbs). Two adult pets may share one carrier only if they are comfortable together, and still within the 8 kg limit. For same-litter young pets (≤6 months), two may share.

• Carrier specs

  Must be a soft-sided bag without rigid frames. Size must fit under the seat and not exceed 55 × 40 × 23 cm (total linear 118 cm). Only one carrier per passenger.

• On-board rules

  Pet must remain inside the carrier (no head or tail protruding) under the seat for the entire flight. Only window seats are permitted; prohibited from exit rows, front bulkhead seats, or next to other pets.

• Booking & permits

  Must be booked in advance via the Service Centre (max 4 pet containers per flight). You’ll need to complete and present a signed pet acceptance form at check-in.

• Documentation

  Must carry all travel documents—health/vaccination certificates, pet passport or import/export permits. The passenger is fully responsible for meeting country regulations.
