Here is all the information you need to make a reservation, regardless of whether your pet will be traveling in the hold or in the cabin with you.
How to bring your pet
Dogs and cats are transported by KLM in hold and cabin. KLM is able to protect the comfort, safety, and well-being of all travelers—including animals—in this way.
KLM is abiding by the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) rules and animal care guidelines by doing this.
Pet space on KLM flights is limited, and the maximum number of pets that KLM is permitted to transport varies depending on the aircraft type, route, and airline. Availability might also change depending on the flight path you take.
Once your flight has been booked, please make a reservation for your pet as soon as possible. Make your reservation at least 48 hours prior to your flight's departure. Immediately after booking your flight, make arrangements for your pet to travel in the cabin.
Please take note that your pet must be at least 15 weeks old and can fly on the same trip as you.
Pets in the cabin
When traveling inside Europe in Business Class or Economy Class, you are permitted to bring one dog or cat in the cabin. Since your pet will need to travel beneath the seat in front of you, they should fit in a closed pet travel bag or kennel that is no larger than 46 x 28 x 24 cm.
The combined weight of your pet and the travel bag or kennel cannot exceed 8 kg. Please make sure your pet is small enough to walk about comfortably in the kennel because you are not permitted to remove them during the flight.
If you are traveling on an intercontinental route in Business or Premium Comfort Class, you are not permitted to carry a pet in the cabin. It is not permitted to place a kennel beneath the seat in front of you in these travel classes.
Pets in the hold
Is your pet too large for cabin travel? Up to three pets are allowed in the hold.
If they weigh no more than 14 kg apiece and are the following, they can share a kennel:
2 adult animals of comparable size, or
3 animals up to 6 months old from the same litter.
Make sure your pet and kennel weigh no more than 75 kg together. On KLM flights, the actual kennel can measure no more than 122 x 81 x 89 cm, and on KLM Cityhopper flights (which use Embraer aircraft), it can measure no more than 102 x 69 x 76 cm.
As soon as you book your flight, make arrangements for your pet to fly in the hold.
